About JHIN
JHIN, born Simon SungâBin Jhin on March 26, 2001, in Chicago, Illinois, is a Korean-American singer-songwriter known for his emotional and genre-blending music. Raised in a family that valued both Korean traditions and academic success, JHIN was surrounded by music from an early age, especially Korean ballads and emo rock.
Despite pressure to follow a conventional path, he made the bold decision in 2020 to move to Seoul, South Korea, to pursue a music career. There, he trained under a respected producer and began writing and recording his own material. Later, he enrolled at New York University to study Music Business, balancing school with his growing success as an artist.
JHIN's music blends alternative R&B, indie-pop, and lo-fi influences. His sound is soft yet emotionally potent, often centered on themes of heartbreak, growth, self-discovery, and memory. With stripped-down production and introspective lyrics, he crafts songs that feel intimate and sincere.
He credits his musical development to a wide range of influencesâfrom Dominic Fike and Juice WRLD to Korean singer-songwritersâdrawing from both Western and Eastern sounds to shape his distinct voice.
JHIN is passionate about authenticity in music. He often writes from personal experience, allowing listeners to feel a deep emotional connection to his songs. Whether it's the sting of regret or the warmth of young love, he translates complex emotions into simple, beautiful melodies. He strives to break stereotypes and express his full identity as an Asian-American artist without conforming to industry expectations.
